VasectoPro Story

VasectoPro is a non-profit organization with two main objectives: to promote learning about vasectomy and to contribute to its accessibility worldwide.

VasectoPro was founded by Dr Michel Labrecque MD PhD, Professor Emeritus at Laval University, following decades of clinical practice, teaching and research on vasectomy. A pioneer of the scalpel-free technique in Canada, he has been practicing and teaching it since the 1990s in Quebec and around the world, including in Latin America and Africa.

Dr. Labrecque collaborates with the World Vasectomy Day (WVD) and No Scalpel Vasectomy International (NSVI) teams to train healthcare professionals in the scalpel-free vasectomy technique. Thanks to these partnerships, the practice and the message extend beyond borders, shattering myths about vasectomy and enabling men to share the responsibilities of family planning. The VasectoPro™ has been successfully used in training programs in North America, Latin America and Africa, as well as in Europe. Health professionals in these countries who have used VasectoPro™ have warmly embraced it, reporting that they feel much safer and more confident approaching real patients after having first practiced with the VasectoPro™.

VasectoPro

Origin of the Simulator

Since 2020, a multidisciplinary team at Laval University, led by Dr. Labrecque, has been dedicated to developing this highly realistic simulator. Through numerous iterations and extensive testing with experienced vasectomists, the team has created a model that is both visually and tactilely lifelike. This realistic model facilitates safe and efficient learning and teaching of vasectomy techniques.

The VasectoPro™ simulator has been officially available since 2024, thanks to the combined efforts of the following individuals :

 Dr Michel Labrecque
Faculty of Medicine, Founder of VasectoPro and Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Medicine
